Black Friday is not the time for small things. A sale on a ten dollar item saves almost nothing. It is the time for the bigger pieces you already know you want: the drill, the power tower, the jump starter, the cast iron that lasts decades. Knowing what to buy on Black Friday comes down to that list, made before the sales start.
Everything below comes from my own pages across the site, sorted by part of the house. There are no prices here, because they change by the hour that week. Use the Check price buttons on the day, and read the section on spotting a real discount first.
⭐ How to Tell if a Black Friday Price Is Real
A big red percentage tells you very little. These five checks take a couple of minutes and catch most of the fake bargains.
- Look at the price history. camelcamelcamel is a free price tracker for Amazon.ca. If the Black Friday price matches what the item cost in September, it is not a sale.
- Compare with Prime Big Deal Days. Some items hit their lowest price in October. If it was cheaper then, waiting longer rarely helps.
- Check who ships it. Look for “Ships from Amazon.ca” under the price. Third party listings sometimes carry the big discount but a slower delivery and a harder return.
- Check the variant. Often only one colour or size is discounted. Make sure it is the one you want before you add it.
- Be careful with brand new listings. A deep discount on a product with only a handful of ratings is a gamble, not a bargain.

Power tools are where Black Friday tends to matter most, because a combo kit with batteries is a large purchase and the batteries are most of the cost. After twenty years of doing my own repairs, these are the ones I would watch.

Small consumables, phone cases and cheap gadgets make up a lot of Black Friday pages, and the savings on them are tiny. Bundles are another trap: a tool bundled with three accessories you will never use is not cheaper if you only wanted the tool. And anything you were not planning to buy before the sale is not a saving at all.

Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Early deals usually start appearing in the week before, so it is worth checking prices from around 20 November.
